FAQ

What is improv?

Improv is spontaneous performance. At Here And Now Improv in Boulder, Colorado, you can expect a fun, welcoming experience for both new people and experienced improvisers. We begin with warmups to get our body, speech, and mind moving in a mindful way. Then we'll move into doing scenes -- two, three, or more actors/improvisers on stage playing and performing. Gentle feedback is provided.

Who can join?

Anyone interested in being present. This drop-in meetup is for a group of people who may be complete beginners or have lots of experience. It's for adults - although "adult language" is not encouraged.

What should I bring to sessions?

Just your willingness to explore and connect. Although water is provided at the location, some like to bring their own. Please leave your shoes at the door. We'll be in a nice large studio so we can move around. And of course you are not required to do anything you don't want or are unable to do.

Do I need experience?

No experience is necessary. It's for all levels of adults, which means anybody who understands and is not offended by adult themes. It's at the Boulder Circus Center -- though the circus performers are generally in the huge room across the hall. I like to think of all improvisers as being actors who improvise. So anybody who is interested in acting is welcome. We can be dramatic, funny, or do dramedy. We never know what's going to happen because it's all improvised!

How long are sessions?

Sessions typically last two hours. Could be we'd go a little bit over two hours. Please come on time, please, so we don't have to wait for you. It would be good if you would RSVP. Click on the "Join" link on the home page.
