We’re not going to ask you to try to be fast, clever, and funny. We want you to be present.
Every scene is a chance to notice what’s happening between you and your partner—the emotions, the point of view, the little sparks that show up in the moment. That’s where the magic lives.
We treat improv as mindfulness in motion: being here, with each other, and seeing what unfolds when we are acting without a script.
At our meetups, we warm up body, voice, and imagination, then dive into exercises that explore point of view and emotional connection. From there, we play out scenes—sometimes two people, sometimes three or more—always looking for those surprising, authentic moments. This is long-form improv, which means we’re building scenes that can be both funny and dramatic, not quick games like on Whose Line Is It Anyway?
You don’t need theater chops, meditation experience, or comedy timing. Just curiosity and a willingness to jump in. Along the way, you may find improv spills into your daily life: more confidence, more playfulness, more “yes” to what’s in front of you. After all, life is one big unscripted scene.
We keep the group small—only eight spots—so everyone gets plenty of time on their feet. If you RSVP “yes,” please come (or change to “not attending” if plans change so someone else can grab your spot).
Shy? New to improv? Perfect. This space is for you. Come stretch your comfort zone, meet great people, and discover how much fun it is to create something out of nothing—together.
Adults only. (You don't have to be 21 years old -- but you have to be comfortable with adult themes, and taking on adult roles.)
Experience the magic of presence in improv.

"Chuck was my first teacher and made me, a nervous newbie, feel welcome, grounded, and free to explore all the exciting possibilities in a scene. I've learnt so much as to how to make a scene funny and impactful. I'm very glad I decided to take his class." -- H. Cauffman
"This meetup is a welcoming place to try new methods of improv and to improve existing improv skills. It has also helped me to be a better listener in "real life." If you want an improv space where you can slow down a bit and get plenty of play time, come try it out!" -- Dakota
"Chuck has created a thriving improv community that is a joy to be a part of. His emphasis on slowing down, connecting with your scene partner, and having fun are needed balms in a world that feels rushed, disconnected, and dour. I'm very grateful for the friendships, comedic skills, and personal insights that I have gained by doing improv with Chuck." -- Tanner
"Chuck, you helped me write A Subersive's Guide to Improvisation! Thank you! You are a joy to work with and an inspiring partner and teacher. I've learned much from our time together." -- David Razowsky
"Improv with Chuck is like a machine made to entertain visiting relatives - it is spontaneous. He is easy to learn from, and it is an understatement to say he really knows a lot about improv. And what’s more, it really does make you more entertaining around visiting relatives." -- G. Reneau
